Vintage Pine Needle Baskets

Basket​ ​1.​ ​One​ ​basket​ ​is​ ​about​ ​7​ ​inch​ ​by​ ​2​ ​inch​ ​uses​ ​the​ ​entire​ ​needle​ ​creating​ ​an​ ​interesting​ ​design​ ​and​ ​texture​ ​and​ ​delightfully,​ ​a​ ​walnut​ ​slice​ ​central​ ​to​ ​the​ ​base​ ​of​ ​the​ ​basket.​ ​

Basket​ ​#2​ ​measures​ ​about​ ​6​ ​inch​ ​by​ ​4​ ​inch​ ​in​ ​a​ ​lovely​ ​shape,​ ​wider​ ​in​ ​the​ ​middle​ ​and​ ​narrows​ ​again​ ​at​ ​the​ ​top,​ ​about​ ​4'.​ ​This​ ​basket​ ​is​ ​accented​ ​with​ ​3​ ​red​ ​chilies,​ ​a​ ​wooden​ ​bead​ ​and​ ​an​ ​antler​ ​bead.​ ​​ ​Notice​ ​the​ ​wisp​ ​of​ ​pine​ ​needles​ ​that​ ​follows​ ​the​ ​chilies.​ ​I​ ​would​ ​consider​ ​the​ ​basket​ ​without​ ​the​ ​chilies,​ ​but​ ​that​ ​is​ ​up​ ​to​ ​you.​ ​I​ ​like​ ​to​ ​keep​ ​the​ ​artist's​ ​original​ ​intention.​ ​These​ ​are​ ​real​ ​chiles.
Btw​ ​I​ ​don't​ ​know​ ​who​ ​the​ ​artists​ ​were​ ​of​ ​the​ ​baskets,​ ​but​ ​there​ ​is​ ​only​ ​a​ ​few​ ​tribes​ ​that​ ​are​ ​known​ ​for​ ​this​ ​work,​ ​and​ ​it​ ​is​ ​regularly​ ​around​ ​where​ ​​ ​Pine​ ​Trees​ ​grow.

Use​ ​each​ ​basket​ ​for​ ​display​ ​or​ ​to​ ​hold​ ​your​ ​trinkets​ ​or​ ​jewelry,​ ​both​ ​are​ ​a​ ​great​ ​size.​ ​Each​ ​basket​ ​could​ ​be​ ​sealed​ ​with​ ​beeswax,​ ​if​ ​wanted,​ ​or​ ​oiled​ ​for​ ​deeper​ ​red​ ​tones​ ​of​ ​the​ ​pine​ ​needles.​ ​I​ ​believe​ ​these​ ​baskets​ ​are​ ​circa​ ​1980s​ ​but​ ​do​ ​not​ ​know​ ​the​ ​artists.
